Information Assurance

This factfile provides an introduction for members and the public to Information Assurance and its uses.

Information Assurance

The National Information Assurance (IA) Strategy recognises the need for stronger IA standards and delivery capabilities, but it does not acknowledge the magnitude of the task and the need for sustained strategic action. The Information Commission should be funded separately from the Government and thus be seen to be clearly independent of the Executive. The benefits of electronic communication will never be realised unless everyone has some basic understanding of the core principles of IA.
