IET Student Poster Competition 2010

This was a joint event from Northumbria and Durham Networks.

Students from North East Universities were invited to present their work to a panel of experienced Engineers.

This year's competition was hosted by Durham University.  The quality of the posters and presentations again reinforced the high standard of Engineering undergraduates in the region.

Congratulations to all the entrants who were chosen to represent their institutions.

IET Outstanding Student Prizes

These were awarded to Jak Willoughby( right in photo) from East Durham College who is currently undertaking an NVQ level2 mechanical engineering apprenticeship at BHK, Chester-le-Street, by Dr Sherri Johnstone (centre in photo) and Steven McGeorge from Derwentside College at Durham University.

 

 

Durham University Solar Car

Following the presentation of the solar car to local network members on the 5th February 2008, the  car has been displayed at the Science Museum, London. and has now completed the North American Solar Challenge 2008 . Click on the Solar Car sponsored event to find out more....

DEF Schools Engineering Challenge 

Derwentside Schools are competing since 10 years in the Derwentside Engineering Forum’s “Schools Engineering Challenge”. This year’s theme was to “Design Electric Vehicles for the Olympic Village”. The students had to assemble a remote controlled car, design the body shell and manufacture a transporter bridge including an electronic control unit. Dr Sherri Johnstone – Chair of the IET Durham Network - attended a lively final and presented the prices to all participating students as the guest of honour.
