The BS 7671:2008(2011), also known as the IET 17th Edition Wiring Regulations Amendment 1, published 1st July 2011
became the standard for all domestic and industrial installations designed after 1st January 2012. Stakeholders from
professional engineers and electricians to lecturers and students can get familiar with the new sections and changes.
Amendment No 1 contains changes and new sections to align with European documents. Additionally, a new suite of QCF
qualifications is replacing the old NCF qualifications. (Example; City and Guilds 2394, 2395 and 2396 replaces 2391
Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations.) What are they and how will stakeholders be affected?
Tony Cable and Darren Staniforth will answer these and other questions in this evening’s presentation.

In 2011 UPM invested £16.75M in building a state of the art facility that takes household, mixed, dry, recyclable materials and separates them into specific material streams ready for recycling into new products.
The plant is built to process 250,000T/year of – paper / packaging / card, corrugated cases, plastic bottles / containers, aluminum cans, ferrous cans, and glass into individual streams at the industry’s best recovery and purity rates
This is the IET’s first chance to visit the new plant; the Materials Recovery and Recycling Facility.

The IET considers funding projects for delivery in schools that have had the endorsement of the local network. Up to £5,000 is available for projects and activities. If you, or an organisation you have an involvement with wishes to be considered for funding, contact the Wales North Education Liaison Officer, Mr Ken Newis for details of the guidelines and an application
On 26th September 2011 the IET Wales North Local Network Award for Student Excellence was presented to Adam Barker.
